Meet the Ancient Fields range

From breakfast to the last treat on the evening walk, feeding a dog well is made up of lots of small moments. The Ancient Fields launch range is built around them.

It brings together four categories, designed to work together: complete wet food, targeted nutritional toppers, nutritional oils and air-dried meat treats. Each has its own job, and all four share the same standards and the same canine nutrition expertise.

We’ll reveal the full range at launch in Winter 2026/27. Until then, here’s a first look at each part, and how they fit together.

Complete wet food: proper food, made easy

A complete food is the meal itself. Fed in the right amount, it’s designed to give a dog everything they need each day, so nothing else has to be added to make it a balanced diet.

Our recipes are nutritionally complete, made with 60% freshly prepared meat and carefully selected wholefoods. We wanted to combine the quality of fresh ingredients with the convenience of food you can keep in the cupboard, without the freezer space, defrosting and planning that fresh or frozen feeding can involve.

The food is cooked and sealed in the can, which is what makes it shelf-stable. It doesn’t need refrigerating before it’s opened, so it’s easy to feed and store at home, and easy for shops to stock.

Targeted nutritional toppers: support with a purpose

Toppers are added to a dog’s usual meal. Ours are complementary, which means they’re designed to go alongside a complete food rather than replace one.

There are five, each developed with canine nutritionists around an everyday area of canine wellbeing: dental health, digestive health, joints and mobility, skin and coat, and calming support.

We developed the five as a range rather than one at a time. Plenty of owners have more than one thing in mind for their dog, so as well as what each topper does on its own, we looked at how they sit together across the range.

Every ingredient was chosen for its quality and form and included at a level that suits its purpose, and any claim on the pack will be backed by evidence and worded to match it. You can read more about how we approached them in From idea to shelf.

Nutritional oils: pure and simple

Our oils let one great ingredient do the work. Each is a single-ingredient oil: 100% pure, with no additives or fillers, and carefully sourced for the nutritional value it naturally brings.

They come in recyclable glass bottles and couldn’t be easier to use. Pour over your dog’s usual meal for a simple way to add to their diet, with no need to change foods.

Air-dried meat treats: standards don’t stop at rewards

Treats are for training, rewards and time together, and they should be something dogs love. We’ve held ours to the same standards as everything else in the range.

They’re 100% meat and single-protein, air-dried with no unnecessary ingredients. With one protein in each, it’s easy to see exactly what your dog is getting.

Treats still count towards what a dog eats in a day. PDSA recommends that treats make up no more than 10% of a dog’s daily food allowance, with their usual food reduced to match. It’s a simple rule, and an easy one to forget on a long walk.

How the range fits together

The range is designed so owners can choose what suits their dog, rather than buying everything at once. A few examples:

  • The whole meal: the complete wet food on its own, with treats kept within the daily allowance.
  • A meal with something extra: the complete wet food with a topper or an oil, following the guidance on both packs.
  • Alongside another food: a topper, oil or treats added to a complete food the dog already eats and enjoys.

Each pack will make it clear at a glance whether it’s the whole meal or something to go alongside it.

Questions about the range

Can I use the toppers and oils with another food?

Yes. They’re complementary, so they’re designed to go alongside a complete food, whether that’s ours or one your dog already eats. The pack will explain how much to add.

Are the toppers supplements?

In legal terms, they’re complementary foods, the same group that supplements, treats and mixers belong to. Each has a targeted nutritional purpose, to support everyday wellbeing alongside a complete diet, and none of them treats health conditions.

Do I need to keep the wet food in the fridge or freezer?

Not before it’s opened, because it’s shelf-stable. Once opened, follow the storage instructions on the pack.

When will the range be available?
