Introducing Ancient Fields

Back to the roots of good nutrition, without going backwards in what we know.

That’s the idea behind Ancient Fields, the premium dog nutrition brand Mancunian Brands is launching in Winter 2026/27. It’s built for owners who want to feed their dog well and understand exactly what they’re feeding.

Here’s where the name comes from, what it stands for and how it’s shaping the range.

Why “Ancient Fields”?

The name brings together two ideas.

Ancient stands for the wisdom. Long before the modern pet food industry, good nutrition rested on a few simple foundations: quality animal proteins, naturally occurring fats, wholefoods and ingredients you could recognise. That isn’t about recreating how dogs ate thousands of years ago, or assuming older is automatically better. It’s about holding on to the fundamentals that still matter.

Fields stands for the nourishment. It connects us to the land and to where ingredients come from, from animal proteins to plants, roots, herbs and fruits. It’s a reminder of how much we care about ingredient quality, sourcing and knowing where our food comes from.

Put together, Ancient Fields is about expertly formulated nutrition, grounded in what nature does best.

Rooted in nature, not limited by it

We take inspiration from the natural world, then use modern nutritional expertise to understand which ingredients help, how they work together and how much of each is needed to make a difference.

What we don’t do is assume that natural automatically means better. If a scientifically developed vitamin, mineral or nutritional ingredient can improve a formulation, we’ll use it. Our targeted toppers are a good example of the thinking: they explore how naturally derived ingredients and advances in nutritional science can work together to support different aspects of everyday canine wellbeing.

We don’t see nature and science as competing approaches. Our priority is the best possible nutrition for dogs, not loyalty to a particular ingredient philosophy.

Every ingredient earns its place

That’s the principle behind every Ancient Fields product. We don’t include ingredients simply because they’re fashionable, inexpensive or make a product sound more premium. Each one needs a clear nutritional purpose, and credible scientific evidence for what it’s there to do.

Including an ingredient isn’t the same as including enough of it, or the right version of it. So we look at the quality and form of each ingredient, how well the body can absorb and use its nutrients, and whether the amount suits its purpose.

We also look at each recipe as a whole rather than judging ingredients in isolation, because ingredients work together. And we only talk about benefits we can support with relevant evidence, within the rules.

None of this means every ingredient has to be exotic or expensive, and a long ingredient list isn’t automatically a better one. What matters is that everything in the bowl has a purpose.

Premium, not luxury

Ancient Fields sits in the premium part of the dog food market, but for us premium is about substance rather than exclusivity: the quality of the ingredients, the expertise behind the formulations and the care that goes into every decision. We want products we’d feel confident feeding our own dogs.

The launch range

Ancient Fields is a complete dog nutrition brand, launching with four categories that work together: complete wet food, targeted nutritional toppers, nutritional oils and air-dried meat treats. You can read more about each one, and how they fit together, in Meet the Ancient Fields range.

Who’s behind it

Ancient Fields is the consumer brand. Mancunian Brands is the business developing and growing it, bringing together Jess Lynn’s ten years building natural wellness brands and Marc Balduin’s background in supply chains and manufacturing.

The formulations are our own, developed alongside specialist canine nutritionists. We’ll share more about the products themselves closer to launch. For now, we’d rather you knew what Ancient Fields stands for before you see everything in it.

Where you’ll find it

Ancient Fields will be available online and through selected retail partners, as we explain in how dog owners shop now.

You can find out more on the Our Brands page. If you’re a retailer interested in stocking the range, trade enquiries are open.
